Tessen

[New Weapon]

A Tessen (Jap.: 鉄扇, literally "Iron Fan") is just that: a foldable fan whose "ribs" were made of iron instead of wood or ivory. This resulted in a small (around 30cm in length), self defense weapon that could be used to parry blades and strike. Samurai trained with these to have a last resort weapon where blades were not allowed, and more).

Rules:

• Treat a Tessen exactly like a Dagger in terms of damage, but it requires a specific Skill for use.
• If a character has Tessen as a skill, he can optionally use it for parrying long range attacks (applies to darts, thrown blades, spears, arrows, ... but not bullets or sling bullets). When attempting to parry long range attacks always apply -3 to the parry score, though.
• Using a Tessen as a swimming aid (as long as the user has at least 1 die in Tessen) will grant a +1D at Swim rolls.

Cost: If you want to track money, cost should be 20% higher than a dagger.

Damage: As per Dagger.
