Ring of Poison Detection - Magical

This type of magic item is usually forged in the form of a ring, usually decorated with an Agate. The wearer gets a warning whenever the ring gets closer than 10cm to a poisonous substance. Some examples:

  • When the wearer is extending his hand to grab something covered with contact poison, the ring will warn the owner (the warning is given as a tactile feeling, basically it will be something similar to the inside part of the ring "pulsating" against the finger, not painful, no matter how strong the poison is, but always unmistakeable).
  • When holding a cup whose content has been mixed with poison (including sleeping potions, hallucinating drugs or actual deadly poison) the ring will pulse against the finger.
  • "Socially accepted poisons", like wine, strong liquors or opium will cause a warning too, but the wearer will fee a much weaker pulse.

Rules:

  • Treat a ring as having a specific "detect poison skill". This skill level is either 5D or the Magic skill of the Wizard who created the ring, whichever it is higher.
  • Detecting most types of poisons is a Moderate (14) Task roll. The roll is performed by the GM. In case of failure, the Ring does not send any signal. Note that some special magic substance might increase the difficulty, but 14 should suffice for most cases.

Cost: If you want to track money, cost should be 20% higher than full suit of Plate Armor.
