Lasso
[New Weapon]
A rope with a noose at one end, used especially for catching cattle. (Note, most of what is said here can also used to model a Surujin, except that the range would be definitely much shorter).
(this version of the lasso is based on some ideas from Mike Buer, after a short discussion on MeWe)
Rules:
Thrown weapon, range: 3 / 6 / 9.
- Make a Throwing attack to ensnare the target. Difficulty:
- Static, inanimate target: Moderate
- An arm of a humanoid target: Difficult
- Both arms of humanoid target, or the neck of a humanoid: Very Difficult
If the target is aware of the attack an extra DEX vs Dodge roll is required or the lasso will fail to connect.
Once connected, roll an opposing STR (target) vs. Lasso skill (attacker): if the target wins it manages to free itself and will be able to act normally on the next turn. If it fails, any other action is at -2D for the rest of the turn.
Cost: If you want to track money, cost should be 10% of a dagger.
Damage: if the lasso is around the neck, damage is the result of STR vs. Soak roll (can be repeated every round as long the lasso is in place).
