The Museo d'Arte Orientale (or MAO, as it is usually called - Museum of Oriental Arts) is a Turin museum devoted to Middle and Far East cultures.
Along with the very nice collection of originals, MAO offers a panoply of diverse activities and initiatives to try to get more public interest for the museum itself.
In this spirit they organized (on Dec. 8th, a Bank Holiday in Italy) a short conference on Japanese calligraphy, followed by a 2 hours workshop allowing people to try their hand at ShoDo.
The conference and the workshop were held by my Shodo teacher, Hiraoka Kazuko, along with some of her students, including yours truly.
